I wasn't sure I was going to blog this, but here we go..... honest opinions only please - even if it's not great! Let's face it, taking criticism is all part of the learning process.
wow, thank you - NOT what I was expecting - just to be clear this is the not-entry - although I like it more now, I still think the sun is out or proportion, and thanks to some measuring difficulties (!!) it's too big to enter now.... it did take ages and I'm hoping the final entry will be easier....
I did hand quilt, Shevvy as I couldn't work out how to keep the beach texture all puffy with a machine. Not being very experienced on anything other than straight line machine quilting, I actually think hand quilting's the easy way out sometimes!
Penny, I agree with the others . . . the sun and beach huts extending into the border adds visual appeal. And the quilting on the sun gives it such dimension. Really nice work.
I think it's really lovely Penny. We went for a walk on the beach today so I just felt that I had to leave a comment.
I have just started blogging about my sewing adventures and would love some critiques from other South East England quilters http://lizofdandeliondaydreams.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/messenger-bag.html
Thanks, Sarah. I'm still not 100% sure about it! I'm my own worst critic though! Currently working on my second entry..... keep those fingers crossed :-)
Hello, I've just discovered your blog via the London group website. Absolutely love your Sherbet Pips quilt! I've made a start on one, and then it's been sitting in the cupboard as I wasn't keen on what I'd done. However, you've given me some inspiration to salvage it and carry on. Thanks!
Hi Fran, glad you like the pips quilt, it's my favourite thing I've made, and first proper quilt (the first two were a cheater panel play mat and a quilt for my mum made from bunting - long story! :-) )
I almost didn't finish this little thing, but I made myself get it done - I'm never going to love it, but it represents a lot of achievements in it's own right - first own design, first time of working out my own pattern, etc, so I'm kind of proud of it.
that is so lovely Pennie! It must have taken you ages. I really like the way the beach huts hang over into the border. Seriously - this is FAB!

Love it! It's really captured the seaside mood and photographed, it would make a great greeting card.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm late to the party here, but I love this Pennie! It's so cute and I love how the sun and the hut go into the border.. so sweet!
ReplyDeleteWell, I am really touched to get so many positive comments! I'm glad it's been well received. Shame it's the wrong size for the challenge! he, he, he
